Vintage items are always fashionable, and in particular high-end classic pieces - and the stroller market is no exception, with the
BumbleRide Queen B Stroller blending a winning combination of ever-fashionable classic vintage looks with very present day design specifications. The two strollers I have the most experience with are the MacLaren Techno XLR and of course the BumbleRide Queen B - I own both of these and have taken out my six month old son in both on many occasions - and both are excellent though it has to be said in different ways. Read on to find out more about the Queen B, and my experiences compared to the Techno XLR.
Nobody can really argue that the Queen B isn't a great looking stroller. I was first enticed into looking into it purely on it's fantastic looks (call me shallow!). By giving the stroller the name 'Queen B' - BumbleRide immediately envoke an image of royalty, and you can easily imagine a stroller like this being used by the royal families. Whether you are using the seat or the optional bassinet, the plush fabrics are beautifully finished to create this effect. All of this sits upon a bold modern frame, evoking the "old meets new" idea. Mine has definitely been the stroller creating the biggest stir amongst the new-moms walk-in-the-park group!
Whilst the MacLaren Techno XLR was great for going round the local shops, it wasn't great when going off-road - which is why I invested in the Queen B. After a few months off, I'm now capable of taking longer walks off-road in the local hills. The MacLaren is great for going round the shops and talking on the bus, but feels a little flimsy when taken off-road. I've been delighted by the Queen B, though - which has been just great in whichever situation I've put it in. Through the fields, in and out of woodland, unpredictable ground surfaces and slopes - all dealt with nonchalantly. A great advantage of the BumbleRide Queen B is that its tires are air-inflated, and together with the amount of padding on the seat this means that my baby feels none of the bumps as we glide along.
The Queen B has even impressed me when I've used it for the weekly shop. Once or twice I've used it in the local supermarket rather than the MacLaren, and though slightly less manoeuvrable it has still been very easy to use. It's also compact enough to fit snuggly in the car, and the handles are easily adjustable making it ideal if more than one person is going to push it. It can collapse right down, and you can even remove the wheels if space is tight. Although I still slightly favour the MacLaren XLR for the shopping trip - the BumbleRide Queen B definitely outperforms the XLR overall in terms of its versatility.
To conclude, it depends what you're after - for a stroller that performs well on public transport or the local shops only - this may not be the one. If, on the other hand, you want a stroller that can stroll outstandingly in any and all situations, whilst looking classic and stylish to boot, it would be worth investing some time into looking at the
